WHO ARE FODDAA

Each of us are just one person making a difference, culminating in a group of volunteers and partners who care passionately about the subject of Dementia and all that surrounds that one word, “Dementia”.

An informal partnership initiative of organisations and individuals from across the public, private and community sectors of the Forest of Dean District wanting to make a difference for not just those living with dementia but for all, as various conditions have impacts on our life and we all need support and help in one way or another.

Our dedicated volunteers run activities and events for people living with dementia and other conditions, including their support carers too. These acts alone have a very positive impact for all concerned.

If you would like to help support our work please contact us at: help@foddaa.co.uk

We are proud to be a part of the Gloucestershire Dementia Action Alliance, www.gloucestershiredementia.co.uk which covers the whole of the county providing support.

OUR STORY

In 2013 born out of a passion to make a difference in our local community for people living with dementia, their families, and carers, a task force of local partners was set up. The result, was the formation of the Forest of Dean Dementia Action Alliance.

This alliance would not have been possible without the sheer determination of two people, Lena Maller and Andrew Morgan-Watts. Born from their personal life experiences of family members with Dementia they were galvanised to ensure local people had local support.

The ongoing tireless commitment these two individuals have made and their impact on the support offered within the Forest of Dean should not be understated, their ability to communicate and bring like minded people together is testament to the ongoing local support provided.

Partners sign up to not only actively support the work of the group, attending its meetings but to actively increase peoples’ knowledge and understanding of dementia, increasing the number of community buildings that are dementia friendly and establishing an effective method of sharing information through the group. It is imperative that the voices of people with dementia, their carers and family are heard and guided.
